Aimed at promoting transparency and accountability among government agencies and the public through the utilization of the Freedom of Information, the FOI-Project Management Office (PMO) led the FOI 2023 Transparency Roadshow in Bataan today, September 14, 2023, at The Bunker.
During the event, valuable information and insights about FOI’s principles and practices were provided, emphasizing citizen empowerment, increased public participation, and ensuring accessibility to pertinent public information.
In his brief address, Gov. Jose Enrique S. Garcia III underscored the significance of implementing FOI across government agencies, highlighting its role in promoting open governance, even at the local barangay level. Furthermore, Gov. Garcia firmly believes that an informed citizenry is an empowered citizenry.
The FOI-PMO conducted the FOI Campus Caravan for faculty and students of Bataan Peninsula State University. Said caravan aimed to engage and educate the campus community about their right to access government information, thereby fostering transparency, accountability, and civic participation among the younger generation. Notable attendees at the event included Vice Gov. Cris Garcia, Board Member Atty. Antonino Roman III, department heads and representatives from the Provincial Government of Bataan, as well as presidents of the Association of Barangay Captains in the province.
